About SG Zoetermeer
The Stichting Georganiseerde eerstelijnszorg Zoeter-meer - SGZ for short - supports general practitioners, pharmacists and other primary care providers in Zoeter-meer. This may involve support in areas such as coope-ration: among themselves or with other parties, but also in facilities, including automation and accommodation. Furthermore, the Foundation is the employer of many practice support staff and practice nurses who work in the general practices and manages the Zoetermeer GP post and the service pharmacie.
The goal of the Foundation is to contribute to good care and service by enthusiastic caregi-vers and staff. In addition, there is a focus on continuing to innovate and improve primary care. Always with an eye on the right balance between cost and quality. In total, the foun-dation supports eleven health centers and five group practices of general practitioners in Zoetermeer. One of the group practices is located in the neighboring village of Benthuizen.
The challenge
For several locations, SGZ was looking for sustainable, energy-efficient lighting. Obviously, LED ca-me up as a potential candidate, but which LED is the right one for which environment? After all, the foundation manages different spaces where different activities are performed - from front desk and office work to performing medical treatments. One of the issues was linked to the treatment rooms. On the one hand, it is necessary for doctors to have good light here in order to perform their examinations optimally; especially when it invol-ves visual assessment. For example, of the skin. On the other hand, it is logical that clients want maximum privacy which means that treating in front of a clear window is not an option. Palmyra Lourier : "Initially, we did not see new lighting as an issue. We ordered a hundred LED pa-nels from Rofianda and were told that we couldn't just get them delivered. Because what were they used for? After several discussions and even a visit to the company in Tilburg, we were con-vinced that choosing the right lighting for a specific space - especially in healthcare - is a profes-sion. Rofianda masters this trade like no other."
The solution
Rofianda designed a lighting plan for the treatment rooms at the Noordhove location. This even involved a 'blind test': a number of treatment rooms were fitted with LED lighting that emitted the full spectrum of sunlight and a number of rooms with standard LED lighting. In all cases, the lighting was dimmable. Because the doctors in Zoetermeer do not have a fixed room but rotate, it was relatively quickly established that a preference developed for the rooms with the full-spectrum sunlight lighting. 'Among other things, we can better assess the skin'. The puncture sites reported, 'The veins are much more visible.' On the basis of these findings, the health centers in the Noordhove and Rokkeveen-Oost districts have since been fitted with new lighting. Full-spectrum sunlight in the medical rooms and stan-dard LED lighting for the front desk.
Result
The doctors and other staff at the two locations are very satisfied with the final result. Good full-spectrum solar lighting gives the doctors the right conditions to make diagnoses faster and more reliably. This also means shorter examination times and less physician fatigue. The other rooms benefit from the sustainable and energy-efficient nature of LED lighting. Palmyra Lourier: "I am glad that Rofianda took the time to explain what good lighting means for our employees performing medical tasks. That they showed examples and invited us to Tilburg to see for ourselves what such full-spectrum solar lighting means. Actually, we immediately saw and felt what they meant when we came in: the light made the environment calm and pleasant and gave an excellent image." After these two locations, Rofianda will get to work on the remaining locations in Zoetermeer fol-lowed by pharmacies. Everywhere where natural lighting benefits adds value for the user.
