About HNK Rotterdam Scheepvaartkwartier
At Utilicht, we are proud to be the lighting partner for the prestigious HNK Rotterdam Scheepvaartkwartier project. This project not only illustrates the importance of a well-thought-out lighting design, but also demonstrates how lighting can enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of a work environment. It was a pleasure to work on this project in collaboration with NSI and Bosman + van Citters.
The challenge
Due to the scale of the Scheepvaartkwartier project, we needed to develop multiple lighting plans. The office includes a variety of spaces, such as a podcast studio, meeting rooms, a quiet area for phone calls, an inviting company restaurant, and flexible workstations. Since each space serves a unique purpose, we tailored individual lighting plans to meet users’ specific needs, while ensuring they all contributed to a cohesive, unified design.​
The solution​
A well-designed lighting plan is essential for creating an inspiring work environment. In this project, we implemented lighting solutions that highlight the unique features of each space. Above the workstations, we chose striking cobra fixtures measuring 5.6 meters, offering both a functional and chic appearance. These luminaires not only provide excellent lighting but also enhance the visual identity of the office. In the meeting rooms, we installed functional lighting that provides bright light, essential for productive meetings and presentations. For the company restaurant, we applied ambient lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, ideal for employees to relax during their breaks.​

The result
The result is a unique and welcoming office that provides functional lighting to enhance performance. At Utilicht, we believe that lighting serves not only a practical purpose but also plays a role in creating atmosphere in the work environment.
